KX er en serie MIDI-keyboards til den krævende computer producer. Der er indbygget en række tromme, guitar, bas, keyboard og andre musikalske fraser som hjælper med at lave komplex MIDI programmering og som sammen med mange forprogrammerede controller templates gør det til en fornøjelse at lege med sit musikprogram. Af controller templates kan nævnes: HALionOne, Mystic, Prologue, Spector, Embracer, Monologue, hypersonic, HALion, PRO-53, FM, Massive, Analog Factory, CS-80V, Jupiter-8V, MinimoogV, ATMOSPHERE, TRILOGY og mange flere.
Der medfølger et Steinberg Cubase AI 4 program som i bund og grund bygger på de samme værktøjer som Cubase 4. Cubase AI er et af Steinbergs standard programmer, dog neddroslet til "kun" 48 audio spor og op til 64 MIDI tracks.

Back in the 80s the masterkeyboard-dinosaurs KX88 and KX76 entered the stages of this planet. And now this name lives again - introducing the controller keyboards KX8, KX25, KX49, and KX61.
The concept of the new KX keyboards is to function as a USB controller keyboard for DAW softwares like the included Steinberg Cubase AI4 and for VSTi plug-in instruments like the also included Steinberg HalionOne. To achieve this aim the keyboards are equipped with numerous buttons: control the transport functions, select tracks, mute or solo a track. You'll find cursor buttons plus enter/escape buttons and more.
Use the four realtime controllers to control virtual instrument plug-ins - select one of the many included "Control Templates" to set the controllers to the parameters of popular VSTi plug-ins. The LC display is used to monitor the sent control change values. You can change the Control Templates to your own needs or create your own Templates by using the downloadable KX editor software. And there is an arpeggiator integrated into the KX masterkeyboards - let your virtual instrument plug-ins be played by its more than 340 arpeggio patterns.
This whole bunch of features is built into a compact housing which black colour suits every working area. The KX keyboards can be powered via the USB bus or by using a power adaptor.
Of course the number in the name refers to the size of the keyboard - the new KX keyboards come in four different versions to suit your amount of space and your need of keys:
Link with Cubase
This keyboard is equipped with a Link function matching Steinberg Cubase 4 / Studio 4 / AI 4, letting you produce music with tremendous efficiency. Simply hook it up to your computer running Cubase and the machines will connect and communicate.
Transport/Track operations on the DAW software
You can perform the transport controls such as Rec/Play/Stop and the track controls such as Mute/Solo switching in Cubase remotely.
Track Operations of the VSTi (VST instrument)
From the KX panel, you can perform VSTi operations such as track creation and Voice selection. No need to fuzz around with the mouse - simply do it from the place you are actually playing your VSTi.
Four Knobs letting you control various parameters
This keyboard is equipped with four knobs to control parameters of VSTi software synthesizers. Just by selecting the Control Template for the VSTi plug-in you want to control, you can use the knobs to control its parameters. Use the LC display to monitor the sent control change values. The KX provides 30 preset Control Templates for various popular software synthesizers, which can be edited or customized to assign your favorite functions to the knobs.
Keyboard performance
You can play the keyboard or use various controller such as the Pitch Bend wheel and Modulation wheel to play the VSTi on the computer connected via USB or play the MIDI tone generator connected via MIDI.
Powerful Arpeggio feature
The KX features an Arpeggiator, letting you play various (more than 340) phrases depending on the notes you pressed. You can easily call up various phrases such as those old analog synthesizer-like ones, backing performances of guitars or basses, and drum/percussion rhythm patterns.
USB bus-powered supported
The KX can be used as a bus-powered type device (powered by the host computer via the USB connector). Simply connect a computer to the KX via an USB cable supplies the power from the computer to the KX. In this case, the AC power adaptor is not necessary. Which is perfect for the performance "on the road" where power outlets are mostly lacking.
